Treating Periodontal Disease
For mild forms of gingivitis, no damage has been done and a regular cleaning will be recommended. Your dentist will provide instructions on how to improve your daily oral hygiene.
For more advanced forms, a special deep cleaning called scaling and root planing will be recommended. After numbing, bacteria and toxins such as tartar and plaque are removed around the gum line and rough spots are smoothed. This allows your gum tissue to heal and the pockets to shrink in size. Further instructions and recommendations will be provided by your dentist.
When there has been extensive damage, your dentist may recommend other restoration procedures. This may include dental implants or crowns and bridges. We also provide laser dentistry, the latest treatment available at a lower cost to treat gum tissue.
