Canadian Dental Care Plan
We are happy to announce that Coast Dental Centre is now accepting the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) for eligible patients. As your trusted oral health care provider, we wanted to reach out and ensure you are up to date on the current status of Health Canada’s dental program.

​We'd like to ensure you are aware of some key points about the program before you make your next dental appointment:

The CDCP is managed by Sun Life for the federal government/Health Canada. Dentists are not involved in deciding who is eligible or not or what services are or aren’t covered. Patients who qualify for the CDCP will be sent a welcome package by Sun Life with a member card and the start date for when their oral health care services will be covered. Please bring your Sun Life card to your appointment if this is your first time using your CDCP at our clinic.

Treatments under the CDCP will not be free: Coverage is dependent on your family’s income level and the treatment being provided. It is important to note that 100% of the CDCP fee does not equal 100% of the provincial fee guide. Prior to your appointment, we will submit a predetermination of benefits to Sun Life and provide a treatment estimate.

Additional care is not available until the fall: Currently, only limited services are covered under the CDCP until predetermination becomes available in November. Please be aware of this when scheduling your appointments. Please visit canada.ca/dental to learn what the CDCP will cover.

Provider participation: Not all dentists are participating in the CDCP, but we are pleased to offer CDCP benefits in our office. Please ensure you review your eligible coverage or contact us to discuss it before your next appointment.
